Rabensteiner Stollen
An extraordinary chapter in the history of mining in the Harz began at the start of the 18th century with the mining of hard coal in the Rabenstein gallery. In a region dominated by ore mining, this coal deposit is still a geological peculiarity today. Until then, it was mainly ore deposits with a high silver and lead content that ensured the economic and political importance of mining in the Harz.
Even though coal mining in the Harz failed to achieve major significance, this local deposit in particular impressively documents the diversity of the Harz mineral resources.
