Rabensteiner Stollen

At the beginning of the 18th century, an extraordinary chapter in the history of the Harz mining industry began with the coal mining industry in the Rabenstein Stollen. In the region dominated by ore mining, this coal deposit is still a geological feature. Until then, it was mainly ore deposits that provided a great economic and political importance for the Harz mining industry with high proportions of silver and lead.

Even if the coal mining in the Harz was denied a greater importance, it is precisely this local occurrence that impressively documents the diversity of the Harz mineral resources.
