Mining Museum Röhrigschacht

The underground show mine, which was opened in 1991, differs in addition to the specificnature of our mining branch in that visitors can enter the shaft 283 m deep with an original shaft conveyor. With a mine railway, it then goes over 1000 m into a mining field of the 19th century, where the mining development from the beginning to the modern era is demonstrated and explained on the basis of show objects.

The operation of various mining compressed air equipment illustrates the enormous load to which the miner was exposed. The extremely low reductions of 40 or 80 cm allow us to understand the heavy physical work of the miners. The tour concludes with a visit to a main pit fan.

For technical and organisational reasons, a guided tour is only available up to max. 31 people possible. For larger groups or if necessary, intermediate rope rides are carried out.
