The Salder Castle Municipal Museum presents the history and culture of the city and region of Salzgitter. It displays over 3000 exhibits on the history of the earth and mankind, the history of the city, economic, industrial and technological history as well as the history of childhood. With free admission, the public can expect interesting and exciting things on over 3500 square metres of permanent exhibition space, a good 700 square metres of special exhibition space and more than 4000 square metres of outdoor area. There you will find the Ice Age Garden with spectacular life-size models of Ice Age animals and the Mill Garden with a bakehouse and the Osterlinder windmill. Sculptures and objects by nationally and internationally recognised artists are also on display. The Salder Castle Municipal Museum has been in existence since 1962 and has been a Geopark information centre since 2007.
