This geopoint is a paradise for those interested in geological history, for geologists and all those who want to become one. Elm limestone in all its varieties can be found here.
On the northern edge, the quarry face shows two quarry stone banks with the friable intermediate medium of the marly "Wellenkalk". A pile of shell limestone rubble invites you to tap and collect. On the second platform, lined up like a string of pearls, are several boulders of shell limestone weighing several centimetres, which, with their sedimentary structures and fossils, can provide visitors with information about the depositional conditions of this shallow sea.
The quarry is located approx. 1.5 km south-west of Königslutter, following the L 290. It can be reached on foot in 15 minutes from the Lutterspring car park.
