Lübbensteine

Discover the remains of two megalithic tombs built from lignite quartzite on St Annenberg. A visit to the Lübbensteine is an impressive journey into the era of prehistoric man. Today, the Lübbensteine are the only megalithic tombs in the Helmstedt region that have been preserved in their original location. Excavations, historical sources and field names have revealed that a large number of such monuments once characterised the landscape between Groß Steinum and Helmstedt. 

Directions: The Lübbensteine can be reached directly from the B1, approx. 300 metres before the western edge of Helmstedt.
