A journey through time at the information centre
Even in the colder months of the year, when it's wet and dark outside, you can have a great children's birthday party with us at the Geopark Information Centre in Königslutter am Elm. Up to 290 million years of the earth's history await you from the cellar to the roof. The information centre is also the gateway to the Geopark in the Braunschweig region. You will learn how rocks are formed, how the local landscape and its inhabitants have changed over all this time and what the seas, dinosaurs, ammonites and crinoids in the area were all about. We can either mould fossils out of plaster or bring the Stone Age to life by drilling stones, making necklaces or leather bags. To ensure that your children's birthday party remains a special memory for a long time to come, you can of course take your home-made creations home with you.
Depending on the age group of the children taking part, the birthday party can have a different theme. For children aged 6 and over, the Ice Age theme is ideal and for children aged 8 and over, the theme is fossils. The Ice Age birthday is about the connection between the Stone Age and the Ice Age and typical questions about the theme are answered. The theme of fossils is about the fossilised remains of animals and plants that lived on our doorstep millions of years ago and the various quarries in the region. These are perfect for exploring with a hammer and chisel. Meeting point: Geopark Information Centre, Königslutter
