Today is International World Environment Day

International World Environment Day, also known as Environment Day, takes place every year on 5 June. Various events against the destruction of nature, campaigns on the subject of recycling and measures to preserve the environment are organised on this day to promote ecological awareness all over the world. Around 150 countries celebrate this day and point out that mankind itself is the cause of the threat to the diversity and stability of the environment.
This special day of remembrance was introduced to commemorate the opening of the World Environment Conference in Stockholm on 5 June 1972. Four years after the United Nations declared "World Environment Day" a public holiday, the Federal Republic of Germany followed suit.

Every year, the international World Environment Day has a specific motto. In 1980, the motto was "Cars and the environment", in 1986 the message was "We buy environmentally friendly products", in 2008 the slogan was "One nature - one world - our future" and last year the motto was "nature:connected". This year's motto is "Together for the environment and climate - avoid plastic waste!". Why don't you think about where you can avoid plastic waste in your daily life and thus do even more to protect the environment?
Finally, we have a tip for a gripping film evening on the subject of environmental awareness. On 5 June 2009, the documentary "Home" was simultaneously released worldwide in cinemas, on DVD on television and on the Internet.
